Industrial Design:
As one of the longest standing courses of its kind in Australia, Industrial Design is recognised and respected by industry and has an international reputation for excellence. This is a practice based design course for people who can think creatively. Students are encouraged to explore design issues through research and to develop themselves as innovative designers and thinkers who want to make a difference in design. Industrial designers are on the cutting-edge of design as their practical solutions improve everyday life for thousands of people. For example, through the form of a chair for the disabled, a water fountain, a CD case, a shopping trolley or a new design for a car or airplane.
The course allows students to create products from inception through manufacturing ready for market. It encourages students to demonstrate practical solutions to designs in a creative and innovative way, taking into account practical issues such as ergonomics, manufacturing technologies, computer aided design and responsible design through an awareness of sustainable issues.
