New experiences facilitate the creation of new memories during exchange in a foreign country. The contact with an unfamiliar culture, new sights and relationships with new people allow lasting memories to be formed. ICS Memories is a collection of three hand-bound, illustrated books titled??? (‘sakura’/ cherry blossoms), ????(fireworks), and ????(yukata), each containing snippets of memories from various people during exchange in Japan ranging from the years of 2010–2016.
Allow yourself to pause whilst reading, to reinterpret these memories as I have done so myself, and recall your own memories of travel. Memories shift and change over time, subjectively deviating from the initial moment creation. I would like to celebrate the recall and recreation of memory through this project.
